Privacy
Altitudle doesn't ask you to create an account or give us your name or email address to play.
What stays on your device
Your best score, streak, settings and a random device ID are saved in your browser's local storage on your own device. Clearing your browser data removes them. The device ID is a random string that is not linked to your identity; it lets the game give you one scored climb a day.
What we store on our server
- Your daily run: the questions you were asked, whether you got each one right, how fast, and your score.
- The leaderboard name you choose, if you add one. It is shown publicly on the leaderboard, so don't use your real name unless you want to.
- A one-way scrambled version of your network address (not the address itself), used only to limit abuse, such as one person starting hundreds of runs.
We use this to run the game, show the leaderboard and the score chart, and to find and fix bad questions.
Cookies, analytics and ads
The game itself does not set cookies; it uses your browser's local storage. Our hosting provider may use cookies strictly for security. We may use privacy-friendly analytics to count visits and see which parts of the game are used. If ads are switched on, our advertising partner may use cookies or similar technology to show and measure ads. Where the law requires it, we will ask for your consent first, and you can also control this in your browser.
Where it runs
Altitudle runs on Cloudflare's network, which handles requests and stores the data described above.
